Dr. Kiuchi graduated from Hiroshima University in 1983. He was a post doctoral associate at the Yale Eye Center, Yale University, from 1990 to 1992. After returning to Japan, he became Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology, Hiroshima University in 1995. From 1997 to 2003, he was Vice Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at Osaka National Hospital, and from 2003 to 2006, Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at Otemae Hospital. In 2006, he became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Hiroshima University.
